Management, Staff and Volunteers of Equal Basis Development Initiative (EBDI) gathered at the Sarau Event Centre, Jiyep Jos on Friday 13th March 2026 for a one day capacity building training on participatory advocacy, financial accountability, and inclusive monitoring tools.

The training which was facilitated by seasoned consultants within the CSO ecosystem was driven towards equipping EBDI to deliver on her immediate goal of institutionalising disability inclusion in climate change policies, disaster preparedness and climate action programming in Plateau State through policy reform, advocacy, capacity building and awareness.

In her keynote address, the Executive Director of EBDI, Patricia Pam who gave an overview of the activities of the NGO, said that the simple mandate of EBDI is to promote the welfare of persons living with disabilities, while anchoring it on climate change on the premise that people with disabilities are the most affected by climate change.

Earlier on, in his own remark, Bitrus Sauta, the Program Manager of EBDI, reeled out activities of the Driving Inclusive Climate Change Policy & Resilience: Advancing Global Disability Summit Commitments in Plateau State Project. The Workshop is the first activity of the one year project funded by Disability Rights Fund.

Facilitators of the training namely: Albert Pam, Solomon Adebayo and Abdullahi Banjo Gidado educated the EBDI Staff & Volunteers on concepts such as building inclusive advocacy skills for effective impact, advocacy strategies and tactics, practical tools & skills for advocacy, inclusive decision making processes, lobbying, power analysis, internal financial management, financial policies and guidelines for an organisation, internal control systems, the four-eye principle for organisations, budgeting & budget monitoring, procurement & resource management, compliance with policy and regulations, monitoring & evaluation, theory of change and indicators & measurements.

Participants of the training, and media reporters who observed the proceedings were full of praises to EBDI, the Trainers, and especially Disability Rights Fund for putting up an incisive and enriching program at this crucial time of climate change response and resilience.
