The Federal Government has appealed to the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to adopt a more understanding approach toward Nigeria’s security challenges.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the appeal during a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja, days after President Trump threatened military action against Nigeria over alleged acts of genocide against Christians in the country.
Idris reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to combating terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes, noting that significant progress has been made in the fight against insurgency, particularly in the North-East region.
