Kano, Nigeria — November 7, 2025
Hundreds of members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) took to the streets of Kano on Friday to protest a viral statement attributed to former United States President Donald Trump, allegedly suggesting the possibility of a military strike on Nigeria.
The protest, which spread across several parts of the Kano metropolis, saw large crowds chanting anti-US slogans and displaying placards expressing anger over the alleged remarks.

According to reports by security analyst Zagazola Makama, mobilisation for the protest was largely coordinated through Hausa-language social media platforms, where posts claimed that the United States was planning to “attack Nigeria.
”Protesters said the demonstration was aimed at compelling President Trump to withdraw his alleged “threat” against Nigeria. They also dismissed reports of a Christian genocide in the country, accusing the United States of seeking to “control Nigeria’s resources.”

“The statement is unacceptable. No foreign nation should threaten Nigeria. This protest is to show that we will not allow external aggression,” a protester said.
Security operatives were seen monitoring the demonstrations to prevent any breakdown of law and order, though the protest remained largely peaceful.
