An artist has publicly addressed what he describe as attempted blackmail and emotional pressure from event organizers after declining an invitation to perform at a gala night.
The artist, popularly known as Arin Izere explained that the offered payment was inadequate to cover logistics for both himself and his dancers, especially given ongoing security concerns due to kidnappings in the area.

Arin while sharing this in a social media post, also criticized the organizers for failing to provide accommodation or security arrangements, insisting that personal and team safety must come first.
He maintained that the decision was not about money, noting years of free performances and experience organizing events, but about basic respect, planning, and human consideration.

Part of his post reads:
“They reached out to me and offered to give me 10,000 Naira for logistics then said the best they can do is 20,000 Naira for me to come and perform at your gala night.”
“First of all, I perform with Asharwa dancers and bringing them alone is much more than what you’re offering, what about my own logistics??? Do you think it’s wise for me to keep spending my own money on performing at events??? I didn’t ask for Payment o…”

“. .Next time when you want to have any Artist, you should think about these things, na human beings we be and if na your brother, you wouldn’t want his life nor resources treated that way… I have done free performances for years and I take care of these logistics from my pocket, I have organized more than 10events in Izere land so no be the money and if I don’t have now or am unwilling to “foolishly spend” now I don’t expect this…”
