A Step of Conviction and Service: Why I Joined the APC – Daniel Asama

30th October, 2025 marked a defining moment in my political journey as I officially announced my decision to part ways with the Labour Party (LP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC). This was not a spontaneous move, but one made after wide consultations with critical stakeholders, political leaders, community elders, and constituents across party lines.

My decision is not born out of personal ambition, but a sincere desire to align with a platform that offers greater opportunities to advance the development goals of Bassa and Jos North Federal Constituency, and to strengthen Plateau State’s voice in the National development agenda.

Many have asked, “Why the APC and not the PDP?” The honest answer is that, at the National level, the PDP currently lacks clear direction, being entangled in internal disputes and leadership tussles. While I recognize that the PDP in Plateau State remains coordinated under the leadership of our Governor, my political engagements also extend to the National front. And with the Labour Party in disarray- struggling to define authentic leadership for months, the APC remains the most stable, organized, and functional platform through which I can network, influence, and advocate more effectively for the progress of my people.

After thorough reflection and consultation, it became evident that the APC today represents a coordinated, forward-looking, and reform-driven platform. Joining it is therefore a strategic and progressive step toward amplifying service delivery, strengthening representation, and creating broader channels for meaningful impact.

My ideology remains steadfast; people-centered, rooted in service, inclusiveness, and sustainable development. My commitment to peacebuilding, youth empowerment, education, security, and social inclusion remains emphatic.

As Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Tourism, while serving in several other committees, my focus remains on attracting development projects and opportunities that foster economic growth and social harmony across Plateau and Nigeria at large.

Politics, to me, has never been about party lines, it has always been about the people. Our vision remains clear: to Serve, to Unite, and to Deliver. And as for the future, we shall cross the bridge when we get there, for only God, the giver of life, knows what lies ahead.

Hon. AMB. Daniel Asama Ago (The Anki Kaboh),

Member Representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency.
