Plateau Govt Unveils “Sing for Plateau” Programme to Empower Creatives and Rebrand the State

The Plateau State Government has launched a new creative empowerment and rebranding programme titled Sing for Plateau, aimed at showcasing local talents and reshaping the public image of the state through arts and culture.

The initiative was unveiled by the Time Is Now Administration through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor on Creativity and Entertainment, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Hospitality.

According to a press release dated January 3, 2026, the programme is designed to spotlight Plateau State’s rich cultural heritage while countering negative narratives about the state. It also seeks to harness the creativity of Plateau youths as a tool for unity, pride, and economic opportunity.

The maiden edition of Sing for Plateau coincides with the state’s Golden Jubilee celebration, marking 50 years since its creation. Organisers say the initiative will help tell Plateau’s story through its own voices, using music, poetry, dance, and digital content.

The competition will feature four categories: songs, poetry, dance, and content creation.Winners in each category will receive ₦1million, with additional prizes for runners-up.

Organisers described the initiative as a catalyst for a creative revolution across Plateau State, aimed at inspiring young people and reinforcing the state’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading creative hubs.

Creatives residing in Plateau State are invited to participate by recording their talent in any of the listed categories and submitting their entries with a brief description via the contact details on the official flyer. Submissions open on February 3, 2026, and close three weeks later.

The programme will culminate in a grand Sing for Plateau concert in March 2026, where prizes will be presented by the Executive Governor of Plateau State. Weekly radio programmes will also keep the public informed throughout the competition period.

The Planning Committee expressed appreciation to Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Commissioner for Tourism, Plateau Tourism Corporation, PMAN Plateau, FOGMMON, AGOMMI, and other stakeholders for their support.

Organisers called on creatives across the state to seize the opportunity and urged residents to rise and sing for Plateau.
